Privacy Policy

Effective: 25 August 2026

NikkiMail is designed so that Gmail analysis and cleanup are performed by the app on your device. NikkiMail does not operate a server that receives or stores the contents of your Gmail account.

This Privacy Policy explains how NikkiMail accesses, uses, stores and shares information when you use the NikkiMail iOS application and this website.

1. Information NikkiMail accesses

Google account information

When you connect a Google account, NikkiMail receives the information necessary to identify the connected account, such as your Google account email address, together with OAuth credentials managed through Google Sign-In.

Gmail data

To analyse and clean your mailbox, NikkiMail may access Gmail message identifiers, sender names and email addresses, subject lines, message size estimates, Gmail labels or categories, message dates, mailing-list and unsubscribe headers, and technical authentication headers used to evaluate sender information.

NikkiMail normally scans message metadata rather than full message bodies. If you explicitly choose View email for a specific large message, NikkiMail fetches the full content of that selected message from Gmail so it can display the preview to you.

Gmail settings and actions

If you choose relevant features, NikkiMail may access or modify Gmail data in order to move messages to Trash, create or inspect Gmail filters used to block future mail from a sender, list Trash, and permanently delete messages from Trash when you explicitly request that action.

Google storage information

NikkiMail may access Google account storage quota information so the app can show your storage usage and help you understand the potential impact of cleaning large emails.

2. Google permissions NikkiMail requests

NikkiMail uses progressive permissions. It requests additional access when you use features that require it:

  • Gmail read access for mailbox analysis and selected email previews.
  • Gmail modify access when you choose to move messages to Trash.
  • Gmail settings access when you choose to block future mail using Gmail filters.
  • Full Gmail mail access only when required for an explicit permanent-deletion action such as emptying Trash.
  • Google Drive app-data scope for access to Google storage quota information used by the app.

3. How NikkiMail uses Google user data

Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing NikkiMail features that you choose, including identifying cleanup candidates, estimating message and storage impact, showing sender summaries and selected previews, moving messages to Trash, helping unsubscribe from or block unwanted future mail, permanently deleting Trash when explicitly requested, and showing Google storage usage.

NikkiMail does not use Google user data for advertising, does not sell Google user data, and does not use Gmail content to create advertising profiles.

4. Where data is processed and stored

Gmail API requests are made by the NikkiMail app from your device to Google. NikkiMail does not operate a backend service that receives or stores your Gmail message content.

To make the app useful across sessions, NikkiMail stores limited app state locally on your device. This can include sender summaries, message identifiers, selected message metadata, estimated storage values, cleanup history, blocked-sender information, Trash and recovery statistics, and discovery progress. This local information is stored using iOS application storage.

Full email bodies are not stored as part of NikkiMail's routine mailbox scanning. A full message is retrieved only when you explicitly request a preview of a selected email.

A small integer recording the number of free cleanup actions used may be stored in the iOS Keychain and may persist across reinstallations. It does not contain Gmail content, message identifiers, sender information or email addresses.

5. When information may be shared

NikkiMail does not sell or rent your Google user data.

Information is transmitted to Google as necessary to perform the Gmail and Google account actions you request. If you choose an unsubscribe action and a message provides a standards-based unsubscribe endpoint, NikkiMail may contact that sender's unsubscribe endpoint using the unsubscribe information contained in the message.

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. NikkiMail does not receive your payment-card details.

We may disclose information if required by applicable law, legal process or a binding government request. Because NikkiMail does not operate a server that stores your Gmail content, we ordinarily do not possess server-side copies of your Gmail messages.

6. Google API Services User Data Policy

NikkiMail's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Data retention and deletion

Local NikkiMail data remains on your device until it is removed by the app, you disconnect the account and choose to clear local data, or iOS removes the app's local storage. The free-cleanup counter described above may remain in Keychain after the app is deleted.

You can revoke NikkiMail's Google access at any time through your Google Account's third-party access settings. NikkiMail also provides a disconnect function that revokes the provider grant and can clear local NikkiMail data for the account.

8. Website data

This static website does not require an account and does not intentionally collect Gmail data. Your hosting provider may process ordinary web-server information such as IP addresses and request logs as necessary to deliver and secure the website.

9. Security

NikkiMail uses Google's OAuth system rather than asking you for your Google password. We take reasonable measures to minimise the Google data accessed and to keep processing local to the device wherever the product architecture allows.

10. Changes to this policy

If NikkiMail materially changes how it accesses, uses, stores or shares Google user data, this Privacy Policy will be updated and users will be notified or asked for additional consent where required.
